Attractions in Brooklyn
Brooklyn is a beautiful and tranquil town with world-class amenities, restaurants and attractions, a secret place to escape and so close to Sydney.
Ducks and Swans on the Hawkesbury

When dining out in Brooklyn the visitor can choose from a range of cuisines and styles ranging from seafood restaurants to the restaurants of the local clubs where visitors are always welcome. There are several excellent restaurants nearby many with water frontage. Restaurants include Leah's Alfresco (ph. 9985 7120), Riverside, Jay Jays, Anglers A-La Carte and the Mooney Mooney Workers Club. For those who want to wander by water there is Dangar Island Bowling Club, Cottage Point, Peats Bite (famous for weddings) and Berowra Waters, which are accessible via water taxi from our jetty by arrangement.

There are several well-maintained council parks and picnic areas where the visitor can enjoy a casual picnic or barbecue in pleasant surroundings on the water front.

Other amenities and attractions in and around Brooklyn include:

  • Local boat hire.
  • Cruises.
  • Ferries.
  • Water taxis.
  • Marinas.
  • Enclosed sandy swimming pools.
  • National Park walks.
  • Train station.

Nearby (300 metres) you might hire one of the many small motor boats (most do not require a licence to drive) from Brooklyn Central. A small fee and bait allows you to enjoy fishing on the Hawkesbury River for such excellent eating fish as Jewfish, Snapper, Whiting or Flathead. A great day out on the water for relatively little expense, or just explore the many creeks & Beautiful River.

If you really feel like something special augment your stay at Brooklyn on Hawkesbury with a night on the river in a house boat, you can hire them just down the road at Ripples, Luxury Houseboats or Holidays-A-Float. Many of our guests stay with us the night before and after their houseboat adventure to avoid a morning rush to pick their boat up then to recover and relax afterwards.

Extensive public access to the Hawkesbury River in most places around Brooklyn allows shore fishing and picnics to be enjoyed in many quiet sheltered areas with a privacy that often surprises visitors.

Brooklyn has a shopping village including a post office and general and specialist stores. All day to day needs are catered for and the specialty shops provide an interesting browse.
