Brooklyn
Brooklyn is a beautiful and tranquil town with first class amenities. Just 1 hour north of Sydney by road or rail and a leisurely stroll (or take the bus) to Brooklyn's vibrant village cafes, marinas, restaurants etc. Brooklyn is skirted by the mighty Hawkesbury river and Kuring-gai National Park, is close to the F3 freeway and only 20 minutes to either wahroonga to the south or gosford(north).
Restaurants
When dining out in Brooklyn the visitor can choose from a range of cuisines and styles, ranging from seafood, thai restaurants to the restaurant at the local club where visitors are always welcome. Many of the Restaurants have water frontage. For those who want to wander by the water there is Dangar Island Bowling Club, Cottage Point, Peats Bite (famous for weddings) and Berowra Waters, which are accessible via water taxi from our jetty.

Fishing
|

Fishing from our Marina is very successful however nearby (300 metres) you might hire one of the many small motor boats for a reasonable cost (most do not require a licence). Bait is readily available and allows you to enjoy fishing on the Hawkesbury River for such excellent eating fish as Jewfish, Snapper, Whiting or Flathead. A great day out on the water or just explore the many creeks and beautiful river or try a hired kayak.
Extensive public access to the Hawkesbury River in most places around Brooklyn allows shore fishing and picnics to be enjoyed in many quiet sheltered areas with a privacy that often surprises visitors.

Shopping

Brooklyn has a shopping village including a post office and general specialist stores. All day to day needs are catered for and the specialty shops provide an interesting browse. Hornsby and Tuggarah Westfields and Gosford all offer city standard shopping and Cinema's and are only 30 minutes away

River Cruise

The Riverboat Postman provides the daily needs to the river community, providing mail, milk, groceries, newspapers etc. and several other operators do cruises in our area.

Walks

The more adventurous visitor can enjoy the beauty of the world renowned ”Great Northern Walk” in the Ku-ring-gai National Park. The walking track passes through Brooklyn and you can walk to Cowan or Woy Woy and then catch a train back to Hawkesbury River Station or from Parsley Bay, walk to Dead Horse Bay, a hidden sandy beach secluded from Brooklyn in the National Park. Or you might choose to cycle the ”Old Pacific Highway” and return to Brooklyn on one of the frequent local train services. Cottage Point, Peats Bite and Berowra Waters all have restaurants and you can catch a water taxi from our marina. Kayaks can be hired in Brooklyn.For you to do your own exploring.

Horse Riding

Just 20 minutes away is Glenworth Valley Horse Riding, Australia's largest horse riding complex. Book in for riding lessons while staying with us, enjoy the horses during the day, and relax in the Brooklyn restaurants in the evening.

Dangar Island
|
|
Historic Dangar Island is one of the very early areas settled outside Sydney and is easily accessible by boat, ferry (regular service on the hour) or water taxi and offers a beautiful tranquil waterfront coffee shop as well as several scenic walking tracks and and a white sandy beach which is great for swimming. It takes about 1.5 hours to walk around the Island. There are no cars on the Island This is the perfect trip for anyone who wants to really feel the river. The ferry also visits Wobby Beach. See river living in its most pure form.
